Waltons Music for Schools Competition Finalists Announced

Congratulations to the twelve Finalist schools selected in the fourth annual Waltons Music for Schools Competition! Twelve music groups – from six primary schools and six post-primary schools – were selected from the many schools around the country that submitted applications and videos of performances specially prepared for the Competition. The first round adjudicators – Carl Corcoran, Aideen Walton and John Mardirosian – certainly had their work cut out for them choosing just twelve Finalists from so many imaginative, energetic and musical performances.

PRIMARY SCHOOLS FINALISTS

The twelve Finalist school group will all perform before their peers and two distinguished adjudicators in the Waltons Music for Schools Competition Finalists Concert at the National Concert Hall on Monday, 11 May. This year’s adjudicators, the renowned conductor David Brophy and musician, composer and broadcaster Ellen Cranitch, will select six of the Finalist schools – three primary and three post-primary – to win first, second and third prizes, as well as €3,000, €1,500 and €500 vouchers for musical instruments and equipment from Waltons Music. In all, Waltons will contribute €10,000 worth of music to the winning schools this year.
