Friday night saw the launch of Charlie Lennon’s Irish Tunes for Fiddle, Musical Memories Vol 2, at the Harcourt Hotel in Dublin. It was launched by Cathal Goan, former Director-General of RTÉ and the guests were treated to some wonderful music from Charlie, his daughter Eilís, his son Seán, nephew Maurice Lennon (ex Stockton’s Wing) and friends Mick O’Connor, Antóin MacGabhann and Catherine McEvoy. Charlie Lennon has been a leading figure in the world of traditional music for many years. His tunes have been recorded by the likes of the Waterboys, Joe Burke, De Dannan, Liam O’Flynn and Sharon Shannon and are regularly heard at sessions all over the country.
